“Give all the tourists a once in their lifetime holiday experience! Guide your visitors past crazy monkeys, rebellious rhinos and hilarious hippos! Mind the lions in the way and look for many more wicked wildlife animals in Youda Safari, a fun Time Management game. Choose the best photo moments, find these special rare and shy animals and upgrade your parks with new vehicles, bigger tourist facilities, and radical restaurants.

I found this game to be fun, but frustrating. For a game with such a simple premise, it sure did drive me crazy on a few levels! The game is easy – you are in charge of driving tourists around to take pictures of animals in a safari-like setting. Each tourist will “tell” you what he wants to take a picture of by showing a little picture above his head. Then you try and figure out a route that will take the fewest backtracks & loops to get every tourist on your jeep/boat (2 – 5 people fit) all of the pictures that they want before you return them to the entrance gate. To make things more interesting, the animals move around after each level and there are different animals in each different zoo. There are a total of 6 zoos, each has its own levels and bonus challenge levels. You can get a silver trophy or a gold trophy if you beat the expert level. The way that you accrue points is by getting tourists the pictures that they want. Each picture they take gives you a star that boosts your score for the level. You also collect money and you need a combination of money and stars to be able to purchase upgrades.
The part that I found frustrating is that I could not get this game to work very well on my laptop. My laptop is only about 1 – 2 years old and I typically do not have any issues with these downloadable computer games, but this one keep stalling in the middle of levels. It did not stop the game, but it made the game stutter a bit and so I had to keep exiting out and restarting to keep going. I also had an issue with the game registering mouse clicks. I would click on an animal to take the jeep or boat there and the click would not register. This is very frustrating as you would think you were done with a set of people, but you are not because of something the computer cheated you out of. I know, I know, this should not count against the game itself, but I became pretty frustrated and had to shut the game down for a while to regain my composure.
I did enjoy this game and I think that I would have enjoyed playing it more if I did not have the technical issues. I really didn’t run into these issues until the 2nd or 3rd zoo where things started getting more complicated as far as winning the levels (there are special bonus photo ops that give you extra points, bonus coins you can pick up like extra speed & extra happiness, food appears to feed the animals, etc.) and these extra features seemed to slow down my computer a lot. The graphics are good and the game is easy to understand and play. If you enjoyed Youda’s earlier game Youda Farmer, this one is pretty similar as you go around a loop gathering pictures instead of farm goods.
Appropriate for gamers of all ages, recommended for ages 8 and up.
